Dorothy Alice Quigley, 100, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at The Brook Assisted Living Care Facility.
She was born February 21, 1922, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Edith Brown, and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1940. Dorothy served in the Air Force during the Korean War where she met and married Raymond Quigley, Jr.
Dorothy worked as a secretary for many years in Denver, Colorado, where Raymond continued to serve in the Air Force. After retirement she worked as a reading tutor in the local elementary schools as she relocated several times with her daughter’s family.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, crocheting and quilting, and playing euchre in her later years. She loved Jesus and attended Rogers Height Christian Church for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda (Mark) Brandly of Big Rapids; her grandchildren, Laura (Ryan) of Big Rapids, Matthew (Chelsea) of Boston, MA, and Mark Ethan of Brighton, MI; her great grandchildren, Levi, Rhynn, Lucas, and Raya; her brother Charles Brown of Maryland; and her sister Melinda Heckart of Ottumwa, Iowa.
