Shane Michael Patterson, 35

Shane Michael Patterson, age 35, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Reed City, Michigan. He was born on September 25, 1990, in Henderson, Nevada, to Thomas Nicks and Sherri Rittenbaugh. Shane entered the world with a bright spirit that only grew stronger as he did. When he was one and a half they moved to Washington, and by age three they settled in Sears, Michigan—the place that would shape his childhood, his dreams, and the man he became.

Shane lived with a heart that was wide open. His greatest joy in life was being a father. His daughters, Lilah (10) and Willow (4), and his son, Denver (2), were the center of his universe. They were his light, his laughter, and his proudest accomplishment.

He shared a deep bond with his mother, whom he adored and loved to tease with his endless practical jokes. Shane had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. He was the kind of person who could walk into a room and instantly lift the energy. The biggest extrovert you could ever meet, he was always the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the one who made sure everyone felt included.

Shane owned and operated Patterson Construction and also found fulfillment working in the oil fields. No matter the job, he brought determination, humor, and a willingness to help anyone who needed it. He was a dreamer with big aspirations, always picking up things from the side of the road because he believed he could fix them—he saw potential everywhere, in objects and in people.

He had a fierce love for his family and a natural instinct to help others. If he saw a car on the side of the road, he stopped. If someone was having a bad day, he found a way to make them smile. His generosity wasn’t something he thought about—it was simply who he was.

Shane loved the simple joys of life: fishing at his favorite spot in Sears, cheering on the Denver Broncos, grilling and smoking meats, and celebrating the Fourth of July surrounded by the people he loved most. Those were the moments where he shined—laughing, cooking, telling stories, and making memories that will be cherished forever.

Shane was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Laura Patterson. He will be missed most and is survived by: his loving mother, Sherri Rittenbaugh, sisters; Debra (Brian Evans) Patterson, Heidi (Wayne Ahchen) Nicks; twin sister, Codie Jane Feher; children, Lilah, Willow and Denver Patterson and many extended family and friends who will forever feel the space he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life is at Faith Bible Church in Sylan Township on Thursday, April 9th at 4PM Words of comfort and condolences can be left on Shane’s “Tribute Wall” online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com.
