Ferris Faculty Association votes "No Confidence" in FSU leadership; University responds

After two days of voting, the Ferris State Faculty Association concluded it has “No Confidence” in Ferris Leadership, specifically President David Eisler.

 

Following that vote, The university responded with a statement:

This recent action taken by the Ferris Faculty Association has no legal merit. The vote is a common tactic routinely used to pressure the University during negotiations. The University is looking forward to resuming negotiations next week with the FFA. We remain hopeful that a tentative agreement can be reached soon.”

 

450 members of the FFA have been without a contract for the last four weeks.

Stanton woman dies in Montcalm County crash

A Stanton woman is dead following a car accident Saturday night in Montcalm County.

 

It happened on  Sidney Road near Hillman Road.

 

Michigan State Police say a Stanton woman was heading east on Sidney Road trying to pass a vehicle when she hit a westbound vehicle head-on.

 

The Stanton woman died in the crash.

 

A Greenville woman and her 10-month-old son were in the other vehicle.

 

Neither of them were hurt.

 

The crash is still under investigation.

Reed City pair suffers injuries following car accident in Mecosta Co.

A Reed City Couple is recovering after a car accident in Mecosta Co.

 

It happened on Northland Dr. north of 19 Mile Rd. in Green Twp.

 

Deputies say a south bound vehicle (driven by a 38 year old man from Reed City) was slowing down for a vehicle that was in front of it when a another south bound vehicle (driven by a 47 year old male from Big Rapids) struck it from behind. 

 

The Reed City man and his female passenger (also from Reed City) were taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Elderly Sanford couple killed in Isabella County car accident

An elderly Sanford couple is dead following a car accident in Isabella County.

 

It happened Monday morning at the intersection of Leaton and Pere Marquette Road.

 

Police say an 81-year-old man and 83-year-woman were pronounced dead at the scene. They say the Sanford couple’s car was hit by a Chevy Trailblazer which did not stop at a stop sign.

 

The driver and passenger in the trailblazer were taken to the hospital for injuries but are expected to survive.

One year old suffers serious injuries after being ran over by truck in Mecosta Co.

Sad situation in Fork Township where a father accidentally ran over his one year old son with his truck.  

 

It happened in Barryton around 8pm last night, Mecosta Co. Deputies say the 35-year old father was backing out of the garage at their residence when he struck the child.

 

Police say the child was flown to Helen DeVos Children's hospital in Grand Rapids where he's listed in serious condition.

Noraine Lois Scarpelli passes away at 92

Noraine Scarpelli of Chicago, Illinois, age 92, passed away in Georgetown, Texas on September 6, 2018. Her husband Eugene Scarpelli preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Jeff Scarpelli and Noraine Eberlin, their spouses Diane Scarpelli and Jim Eberlin; grandchildren Gordon Eberlin, David Eberlin and his wife Sarah, Brian Scarpelli and his wife Rebecca, Maureen Scarpelli, JT Scarpelli and Joanna Scarpelli; great-grandchildren Sadie Eberlin (David and Sarah) and Daniel Scarpelli (Brian and Rebecca).
A visitation and viewing will be held at 10 a.m. on September 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4660 W 94th St. in Oak Lawn. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Gravesite interment will follow immediately at Bethania Cemetery, 7701 South Archer Ave, Justice, Il. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Paul Lutheran School, 4660 W 94th St. Oak Lawn, Il 60453.
